The Wren’s Nest
Our first special mention goes to The Wren’s Nest. This is a traditional Irish pub that goes a long way back. Established in 1588 it has been home to some very famous visitors: Mick Jagger, The Dubliners, Julia Roberts, Daniel Day Lewis, Guy Richie and Packie Bonner to name a few. The Wren’s Nest has an outdoor space to seat 90 patrons and is located only a short driving distance from Castleknock Hotel. There is street food options from a selection of vendors and they also have a farmers market on the weekends. Live traditional music will be back from Thursday to Saturday once allowed under government guidelines.
The Angler’s Rest
Our next recommendation is The Angler’s Rest. The Angler’s Rest has a history that stretches back to Cromwellian times and the famous patriot Michael Collins. It has long been considered as his the favourite watering hole and for anglers fishing along the banks of the adjacent River Liffey. There is a horsebox outdoors serving tea and coffees and there is outdoor dining available now also. This is also located just a short driving distance from Castleknock Hotel.
